Happy Birthday Dad

This is a little hard to read because it's hard to scan from Mom's great big scrapbooks but it tells a couple of stories about Dad that I had not heard. Besides the whole (disturbing) shot - from - a - cannon stunt, he was also "sawed in half"; rode a horse bareback and came to a football game in a brown burlap bag with a rope tied around his waist that had about 30 knots in it (?). I think these were all done as a cheerleader, but I'm not sure. As you know, he interrupted his college years for the Army. This is written after he came back. I noted with interest that he put his occupation as "Master of Ceremonies" on his discharge papers.

He would have been 82 today. Happy Birthday.

Wow! That is a new look at Dad, isn't it? Was he a cheerleader both times he was at St. Boneventure? If not, he may have just been doing those stunts with his buddy because they enjoyed the attention. I'm not sure that I knew that he actually went to Bona and then had to leave to go to Korea. I knew he was in WWII and then got called to Korea, but I guess I never thought about what he was doing in the meantime.

He sure stayed busy. Remind you of anyone? Patty Anne? Judy?

I just didn't know who he was before he was Dad.... Happy Birthday Dad.
