Mom's Birthday

This owuld be Mom's 79th birthday.  It's hard for me to imagine what she would be like today if we were still lucky enough to have her.  Nanny lived past 79, but it's still hard for me to picture Mom.  There are still times when I think of Mom, briefly forgetting she's gone.  I thought you might enjoy some random favorite pictures that I think tell parts of Mom's story.

I love this one as everyone seems to be having a grand time and it reflects some of my favorite memories of card playing--that's not something my kids have experienced but it's one of my most cherished memories.  This was when we celebrated Nanny and Weenie's 50th.  In this picture, Mom is younger than any of us are today except for Judy!

I love how Mom is sharing something special with Jess.

Great Dennison Road shot.  Look at Chris!

Looking very happy in 1980, though I never really did like that blue dress very much.  Not as flattering as she deserved.
Classic

One of my all-time favorites.

Happy Birthday Mom.

My week has been very busy. Too busy to look at the blog. But not too busy to think of Mom on her Birthday!

I love these pictures. They really do show Mom very happy! I like that there are shots with her parents, her friends and her children. That tells a story in itself. Mom wasn't real invovled in community groups or activities (like many of us are - thus, why I was so busy this week). But she has dedicated and devoted to us, her family.

Sometimes I wonder if she only had time for us and not outside activities because we are such a big family. But most of the time I think it was a choice for mom. After we were grown, Mom could have joined a group or two, but she didn't. She read and love to take little trips, like the ones she would take with Patty Anne or Dad. And I think she loved when we came to visit, even if it was only for a little while. She liked her Saturday shopping trips with one (or more) of us girls, and, of course, lunch out with whoever was available.

So these pictures are truly a reflection of Mom's life. And she seems happy in most of them. Happy Birthday (a little late) Mom. Still love and admire you!
